It has been almost a full 7 years since I last posted. Work took over for a while, we moved to a new house just before the pandemic kicked off which led to my baking skills being transferred to pointing brick work along with other building tasks, my weight ballooned so I had to deal with that, we got a dog who we adore and there have sadly been a few health issues over the last year. Somehow the blog and the obsessive baking took a bit of a back seat.

The website still gets traffic I noticed and today I tried my Coconut Mousse Torte for the first time since I blogged it, only to discover the quantities were wrong! Thankfully ChatGPT (my how the world has changed) sorted out the recipe for me which saved a lot of spreadsheeting.

Thankfully I am now sort of retired, hopefully the health issues of the last year will be resolved and subject to keeping the weight off (hello Ozempic maybe?) I will start up again, and start to be a bit more adventurous when I do cook or entertain and maybe once in a while for something special, document it.

I didn’t stop baking and a few photos got taken of the results. I was particularly proud of my nephew’s birthday cake, but various confections have appeared over the years, and during the pandemic bread in particular was a regular feature of our life back then.
